This week's round up of news from the world of heavy lift and project forwarding.

According to a new report published by MarketsandMarkets, the worldwide freight transportation management market is set to grow from USD15.3 billion in 2014 to USD23.69 billion by 2019, at a compound annual growth rate of 9.14 percent.

The report, entitled Freight Transportation Management Market by Solutions, focuses on key adoption trends, evolution of solutions, services, future opportunities, and business cases in the sector.

It suggests that increasing international trade, globalisation and growing population are demanding a greater deal of efficiency in logistics activities to fulfil the on-time delivery demand of the end users.

This has created an "enormous opportunity" for the vendors of this market to provide on-demand, real time updated and intelligent solutions, said the report.

The environmental concerns, security and safety of freight operations, and the need for operational efficiencies are also expected to serve as major drivers for the freight transportation management market.

All about Evie

The photo below shows some of the FIATA members at the organisation's world congress in Istanbul last year toasting the creation of a relief fund for the Ebola crisis. Within 60 minutes of announcing the FIATA Fund for Ebola Relief, over USD100,000 was pledged by FIATA members around the globe. Hearty congratulations are certainly in order for those members who contributed, although the selection who took to the stage certainly looks like the oldest boy band in the world.
