Mammoet has utilised its Liebherr LR 13000 crawler crane to install two reactors inside a US Gulf Coast polypropylene plant currently undergoing expansion.

Due to the LR 13000’s high lifting capacity, only a boom change was required to streamline lifting from one location, says Mammoet.

According to Mammoet, this saved both space and time for other work taking place inside the plant.

The crane’s configuration featured a lifting radius of 33.5 m and super-lift capacity of 1,500 tons (1360.7 tonnes). The larger reactor weighed a total of 725 tons (680.4 tonnes) and stretched 49 m long.

The crane will remain in position ahead of a second round of lifts that will take place in mid-July.
