Joseph Merritt Group has moved four injection moulding machines from Dubai to Horncastle in the UK for plastic piping systems manufacturer Polypipe Civils.

The project included three weeks of machinery decommissioning, export packing and loading in Dubai, followed by delivery, installation and recommissioning works in the UK.

Merritts used overhead cranes to lift the ancillary equipment from the machines and place it onto support structures in pre-manufactured timber cases. The company’s mechanical and electrical engineers then separated the clamp and injection units on each machine, skating the components outside where they were lifted and lowered onto steel and timber packing bases.

The cases were subsequently loaded on to trailers.

The cargo was shipped from Jebel Ali in Dubai to the UK’s port of Felixstowe. They were then delivered to the installation site in Horncastle, where Merritts performed reassembly and reconnection.

An engineer from the manufacturer, Engel, completed the recommissioning process.
