ALE expands West African footprint

ALE has expanded its business operations in Africa with the opening of an office in Nigeria.

Earlier this year, ALE fitted its AL.SK350 crane with a 38 m-long modular jib to lift a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) module, weighing 1,276 tonnes, in Lagos.

Commercial, operations and engineering teams will be based at the office, which will be focused on business development for oil and gas, petrochemical, offshore, power generation and shipyard projects taking place within the country and West Africa.

With two offices in South Africa, the Nigeria office is ALE’s third branch in Africa. The company also has a sales presence in Ethiopia and Egypt.

According to ALE, the development in Nigera is an indication of the company’s drive to expand its footprint in the continent.

Adrian Jordaan, general manager in Nigeria, said: “We have established an extensive reputation for our heavy lifting capabilities within the oil and gas industry all over the globe. As part of our strategy, we made the decision to expand our business opportunities within this market and position ourselves within closer reach to local clients in West Africa.

“We are working hard to build relationships and have already lined up some potential prospects.”
