Polytra on the double

March 24 - Polytra bv has shipped 80 bulk wagons from Romanian to Casablanca in Morocco, and 12,000 freight tonnes of pre-assembled steel structures from Moravski Krumlov in the Czech Republic to Germany's port of Hamburg.

The 80 bulk wagons, each of which weighed 25 tonnes and had the dimensions 12.6 m x 3.2 m x 4.2 m, were transported on two chartered heavy lift vessels, with 20 wagons loaded under deck and 20 on deck.

The wagons were loaded at the UMEX terminal in Constanta, where transport beds had to be built due to the wagons being delivered without any transport skid, and shipped to the port of Casablanca.

Four days before the wagons arrived in Morocco, Polytra's experts travelled to the port to inspect and make preparations, including making adjustments to the terminal's rail system in order to move the wagons away quickly.

Polytra's second shipment was transported by road from the Czech Republic to Hamburg. Among the pre-assembled steel structures were 24 module casings, each weighing between 36 and 55 tonnes with the dimensions 32 m x 4 m x 2.25 m.

68 special trucks were used to transport the cargo from Moravski Krumlov to the port of Hamburg, where the cargo was shipped on a chartered vessel to Houston, USA.

Polytra bv is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) representing Belgium, and has recently been appointed as a referral member to the network for Zambia.
