WWL ALS opens in Aberdeen

March 26 - WWL ALS (Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Abnormal Load Services) has opened a new office in Aberdeen, Scotland, which will be headed up by senior manager of projects and shipping, Richard Platts, who is currently based in Hull.

The new office gives WWL ALS the opportunity to co-locate in Aberdeen with other parts of the Wallenius and Wilhelmsen group offices, which will enable the companies to share resources and offer integrated solutions to both potential and existing group clients.

WWL ALS will provide project forwarding, road transport and vessel chartering services, and hopes to enhance its relationships with key companies active in the oil and gas industry and other energy sectors.

Elsewhere, WWL ALS and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) are currently in the process of the transporting a 72-tonne Liebherr R984 hydraulic excavator from France to South Africa.

WWL ALS arranged the pre carriage from the factory in France to Belgium, and WWL will arrange oncarriage to South Africa, where the machine is due to arrive in mid April.

The machine will be shipped in seven pieces, with the largest unit weighing 72 tonnes and measuring 4.83 m wide and 4.24 m high.

Several trailers, including a specialised 5-axle low loader with 2-axle dolly and 5-axle tractor, have been used for this transportation.
