Collett & Sons has delivered six over-dimensional bridge components to Worcester in the UK.

The consignment comprised three deck sections, an arch section and two arch ends. The Battenhall Bridleway, once installed, will measure 62 m in length. Collett transported the sections from Northallerton, UK to Sheffield for finishing before final delivery.

The longest component, a 27 m arch section, was removed from the manufacturing facility using self-propelled trailers before being moved to the final destination.

Collett undertook a swept path analysis ahead of the project and removed any obstructions along the route. Over a two-week period, each of the components travelled under escort to the Worcester construction site.

Two of the deck sections, which were stored at Collett’s heavy lift storage facility in Goole and measured upto 25.5 m in length, were loaded directly onto four-axle extendable trailers for delivery.

The other four components were delivered directly from Sheffield to Worcester – a distance of approximately 120 miles (193 km).
