December 19 - Dutch maritime contractor Dockwise has announced the record-breaking installation of one of the world's largest oil platforms.
Last weekend, Dockwise installed the almost 30,000 tonne fully integrated SHWE Platform in the Bay of Bengal.
The mega topside - Block A-1 'SHP TOPSIDE' - was successfully installed via float-over method using the world's second-largest installation launch barge, COOEC's HYSY229.
The state-of-the-art topside facility is equipped with a hotel and restaurant for 200 personnel along with both drilling and production capabilities.
The main tow arrived in the SHWE Field on in early December after a 23 day voyage from the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Busan, South Korea.
Dockwise's previous installation record stood at almost 21,000 tonnes.
