A2SEA accepts Merkur challenge

September 6 - A2SEA, with its parent company GeoSea, will transport and install 66 transition pieces (TP) for the 396 MW Merkur offshore wind farm.

A2SEA's Sea Challenger, capable of carrying six TPs at a time, will be deployed for the project, which is due to start at the beginning of October in Eesmhaven, the Netherlands.

According to Michael Glavind, ceo at A2SEA, this will be the first time the Sea Challenger will install TPs.

Merkur Offshore, a joint venture between Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis, contracted GeoSea, which completed the acquisition of A2SEA earlier this month, for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the wind farm.

The wind farm is located approximately 45 km north of Borkum, Germany, and is expected to be fully commissioned in 2019.
