ABC sticks with Liège

November 27 - Despite regaining its lost slots at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, AirBridgeCargo (ABC) will retain its freighter calls to Belgium's Liège Airport.

The addition of Liège Airport in October followed slot restrictions at Schiphol - a result of the Dutch airport breaching its annual quota of 500,000 flights a year, meaning it had to enforce the IATA 80:20 policy, as HLPFI reported here.

Following an agreement with Dutch airline KLM, ABC said that it expects to resume its operations at Schiphol, with many assuming this would be at the expense of its Liège flights.

In a statement, ABC explained: "At the moment ABC operates 12 frequencies per week to Amsterdam and six frequencies per week to Liège. We have an intention to gradually increase number of flights into Liège in order to keep quality of services at the required level.

"We are not planning to reduce number of flights in Liège because its launch was very much appreciated by our customers and we are focused on developing smooth quality services in Liège together with our partners, who consider the cargo industry to be a core focus of their businesses."
