Extra Logistics goes the extra mile

September 9 - Long Beach, California headquartered Extra Logistics LLC has transported a 16-tonne outsize mineral processing machine from a cement factory in Spain to the Port of Los Angeles.

The machine was shipped on a 40 ft flatrack onboard Hamburg Süd's vessel Santa Roberta, which is deployed on the company's West Mediterranean/Pacific Coast service.

President of Extra Logistics, Peter Gruettner, explained that the company often performs shipments for this cement manufacturing company in Spain, including small factory parts and bricks.

Gruettner added that he is experiencing a rise in enquiries related to the transport of out-of-gauge and project cargoes.

The company also regularly ships submarines (one of which is pictured below).

Extra Logistics provides global ocean and air freight services through its network of more than 22 cargo receiving terminals in the USA, and affiliate offices in 97 countries, as well as providing project handling for oversize units, high-value cargoes and specialised event freight.

The company recently launched its own web-based ocean freight booking and rates service - Extra Quick Quote - which provides clients with instant access to deliveries from more than 42,000 US ZIP codes, to destinations in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Oceania, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
