New database for shippers to and from the UK

June 3 - Freight by Water, the promotional body for water-based freight transport in the UK, has launched the first phase of its upgraded database, a one-stop-shop and free of charge to those looking to move goods by water.

According to Freight by Water, water-borne freight provides the most efficient transport mode for an island nation and the database provides key information to help obtain these benefits. Data on the following can be accessed: Barge and Ship Operators; Brokers; Cargo Statistics; Consultants; Freight Forwarders; Legal Advisors; Ports and Terminals.

Executive director Francis Power said: "our database has always been a much visited element of our website, with shippers from all over Europe wanting better information about how they can incorporate multimodal solutions into their UK operations. We ask everyone in the waterborne freight and distribution industry to visit the site regularly and check details of their own services to make sure they are present and correct. Tell us if they have changed so we can quickly update them.

"Freight by Water invites you to explore www.freightbywaterdatabase.org and start moving your goods along the water."
