Out of this world shipment for Volga-Dnepr

Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Bolloré Logistics have delivered one of the first European Service Modules (ESM) for the Orion space programme, which aims to transport astronauts beyond low Earth orbit.

The 14-ton (12.7-tonne) module, transported in a special container to maintain precise temperature and pressure conditions, as well as 10 tons (9.07 tonnes) of supporting equipment were delivered to Titusville, USA on board one of Volga-Dnepr’s AN 124-100 freighters from Bremen, Germany.

In the USA, the ESM will be prepared for installation on the next generation Orion spacecraft and tested at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
