PCN members keep on moving

April 29 - Member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in India, Procam Logistics, has coordinated the shipment of 24 wind turbine blades from Quinhuangdao, China to the Ratlam District of Madhya Pradesh via the Indian Port of Kandla.

The blades - each of which measured 42.9 m long - were shipped on the bulk carrier Sea Wellington from China to India, before being moved overland to the job site using extendable trailers.

PCN member in Germany, Russia and Mongolia, Alexander Global Logistics (AGL), handled the transport of a 145-tonne mining crane from France to the Russian city of Novokuznetsk.

The delivery involved transport by road to the German Port of Kiel, loading onto Mafi trailers, shipment via ro-ro vessel to St Petersburg, and final delivery over 4,500 km by road to the job site.

AGL also joined forces with fellow PCN member Grand Arabia to deliver eight spud poles, measuring 22 m long, from Antwerp to Aqaba, Jordan.

In a separate job Grand Arabia handled the transportation of a Liebherr LR1280 crane from Dubai to Aqaba. The delivery required the use of 12 lowbed trailers and six flatbeds.

Another PCN partnership saw members, Upcargo and Merzcargo Forwarding, arrange the shipment of two Tadana all-terrain cranes. The 40-tonne machines were shipped on an NYK ro-ro vessel from Manzanillo in Panama to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, PCN member Express Global Logistics (EXG) executed the ship of four heavy and oversize transformers from Hayderpasa, Turkey to Doha in Qatar.

Elsewhere, PCN member Intertransport Gruber coordinated the loading of four cryogenic tanks, weighing a total of 384 tonnes, onto the vessel BBC Asia in China, for shipment to the Torrens Island power station in Adelaide, Australia.

In another job, Intertransport Gruber moved a 37.5-tonne heat exchanger, measuring 9.06 m x 3.55 m x 3.55 m, from Germany to Long Beach, USA.

The unit was loaded onto a flatbed trailer in Stassfurt, transported to Bremerhaven, stuffed into a 40 ft flatrack container and shipped on a Hapag-Lloyd vessel to Los Angeles.

Over in Asia, PCN member CEA Myanmar carried out the transportation of a gas turbine from a power plant in Yangon, Myanmar to Japan for repair.

Two network members - Aryamasir International Transport and Sonora - worked together to ship 50 containers from China to Bandar Abbas, Iran for final delivery of Ashgabat in Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, three PCN representatives - Anker Logistica & Carga, Prolinair and Base - pooled their resources to complete the transport of 162 tonne of oversized machinery and construction equipment from Livorno, Italy to Cartagena in Colombia.

Finally, Pakistan's PCN member, Muhammad Amin Muhammad Qaseem (MAMQ), coordinated the delivery of two 70-tonne transformers from Karachi Port to the Patrind hydropower project site.
