Rhenus handles rotor blades from China

October 25 - Rhenus Project Logistics has organised the maritime shipment of 45 rotor blades from China to Cuxhaven, Germany on behalf of the componentmanufacturer.

The Cuxport terminal operator, which is part of the Rhenus Group, handled the transhipment of the rotor blades prior to their onward transportation by truck and coastal vessels to their final destinations.

Rhenus subsidiary, Rhenus Maritime Services, completed the clearance work on board the cargo ship Catalonia, which had set off from the Chinese port of Qinhuangdao almost two months earlier.

"The Rhenus Group views itself as a partner for the wind power sector. This applies to its logistics requirements, both for its offshore and onshore business," commented Tobias König, managing director of Rhenus Project Logistics.

The movement of the rotor blades destined for onshore wind turbines in Germany and Italy was the largest single transhipment of rotor blades ever handled at the Cuxport terminal.
