October 19 - Stevedoring company SSA Cooper has loaded two turbine rotors at Jaxport's Blount Island Marine Terminal, bound for a power plant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The rotors, which weighed 97,000 lbs (43.9 tonnes) and 125,000 lbs (56.6 tonnes) respectively, were transported by road to Jacksonville from their manufacturing facility in Virginia using 11-axle and 13-axle trailers.

At the Florida port, stevedores from SSA Cooper lifted the rotors one at a time onto a ro-ro platform for shipment to Puerto Rico on board Trailer Bridge's barge, Jax-San Juan Bridge.

The logistics of the transport from Virginia to Puerto Rico was organised by ATS International.
