July 20 - Mammoet has delivered the last wind turbine components for the extension of the Clyde Wind Farm situated near Abbington, Scotland for energy supplier SSE.

Mammoet was responsible for the transportation of 584 turbine components and 125 containers from the Port of Glasgow to the project site.

The last section of the 60 km route, was particularly complex terrain, says Mammoet, with inclines up to 14 percent. For the 22 km road leading to the site, Mammoet utilised 8 x 8 individual wheel drive pulling units to pull the trucks, carrying components weighing up to 87 tons (79 tonnes) with lengths up to 49 m, up the steep hills.

All vehicles were equipped with anti-spill kits to ensure no environmental impact on the surrounding area, as the hills on which the extension of the wind farm is situated are part of a drinking water capture area.

The extension of the Clyde Wind Farm, which will be completed later this year, will add 54 wind turbines to the existing 350 MW facility, bringing the total number of wind turbines up to 206.
