Mammoet moves for Bridgewater

Mammoet has transported a 3,152-ton (3,150.9-tonne) heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) module from Coeymans, New York to PSEG Power Connecticut’s Bridgeport Harbor Station 5 project site.

The HRSG module, measuring 145 ft (44.2 m) long, 120 ft (36.6 m) high and 39 ft (11.9 m) wide, was transported by barge along the Hudson River.

To load the module onto the barge, Mammoet utilised 141 axle lines of SPMTs, which remained underneath the unit during the journey.

Upon arrival at the Bridgeport site, the module could not be directly offloaded from the barge due to insufficient water levels. Therefore, Mammoet proposed placing a grounding barge between the offload site and the barge carrying the module. This allowed the transport barge to sit in deeper water levels during the offloading process.

The module’s barge was securely fastened to the grounding barge, which provided the stability to transport the module on the SPMTs over the grounding barge and onto the offload site.

For the Bridgeport Harbor Station 5 combined-cycle gas plant project, Mammoet is also transporting ACC modules and ducts to the site.
