Initial PCN annual summit mixes business with pleasure

December 5 - The inaugural two-day annual summit of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) has been held in London, England and organisers hailled it a "successful and enjoyable event".

More than 85 CEOs and senior managers from 45 countries, including HLPFI editorial director Ian Matheson, enjoyed two key industry speakers and three special guests before taking part in over 550 face-to-face business meetings.

"I am unable to recall another network who had so many hard-working delegates at their first-ever gathering, so thank you so much to all those who attended and made the meeting such a successful and enjoyable event," says Rachel HumphreyPCN chairwoman.

Delegates at the one-day event heard presentations on topics such as an outlook for the project cargo industry; the movement of accessories and structures for a power generation building; transportation of a yacht during a world tour; and, a presentation of ISO 14001 environmental management certificate. The event concluded with a Medieval banquet for guests.

"I believe that the project cargo market has many opportunities and that has been proven by the number of companies who have applied to join PCN since we began. As we know, the developing markets continue to look very promising for project forwarders. Current oil and gas prices have led to an increase in the number of offshore projects requiring transportation, installation or removal of a wide range of structures and modules," says Humphrey.

She revealed that the PCN's next summit will be held at the Radisson BLU Resort Temple Bay, Mamallapuram, near Chennai, India from 19-20 November, 2012.
