Mammoet delivers first components for Saudi plant

Samsung Engineering has contracted Mammoet to transport and install 49 modules for Jubail United Petrochemical’s ethylene oxide–ethylene glycol (EO/EG) plant in Saudi Arabia.

Mammoet transports the first module for Jubail United Petrochemical’s ethylene oxide–ethylene glycol project in Saudi Arabia.

The plant will produce 700,000 tonnes of EO/EG when it comes onstream in 2020.

Mammoet’s scope includes weighing, transporting and installing the various modules, along with the associated port handling and Customs clearance activities.

The engineered heavy lifting and transport provider has already moved eight pipe rack modules weighing between 450-650 tonnes, as well as a 2,000-tonne wash tower.

The pipe rack modules were transported from the client’s yard to the site using 56 axle lines of SPMTs. The wash tower, measuring 101 m x 10.8 m x 11.4 m, was received at King Fahd Industrial Port and staged at Mammoet’s yard ahead of Custom clearance and weighing. It was then transported 9 km to the project site using 76 axle lines of SPMTs.

The remaining cargoes will be transported and installed through until December 2019.
