LNG projects move forward at Brownsville

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved proposals for new LNG projects, totalling USD38.75 billion, at the port of Brownsville, USA.

John Reed, chairman of the Brownsville Navigation District, said that the approval of these proposals is “another significant milestone in making these energy projects a reality”.

The projects include the Texas LNG, Annova LNG and Rio Grande LNG export terminals, along with the Rio Bravo Pipeline. The next step in the process is for applicants to make final investment decisions (FID), which could be as early as the first quarter of next year.

“The fact that the port of Brownsville was sought out and chosen for these three LNG projects is a testament to our strategic location and Brownsville’s important role in both the energy industry and international trade,” said Eduardo A. Campirano, port director and ceo.
