'Satisfaction' for Atlas Air as Stones rock Havana

March 30 - Atlas Air carried equipment to help The Rolling Stones perform a historic concert in Havana, Cuba, after a 15-year long ban on Western rock music was lifted in the country.

An Atlas Air Boeing 747-400 freighter delivered 97 tonnes of staging and music equipment from Mexico City to Havana via Miami International airport.

The Rolling Stones used the equipment at their free-to-attend concert on March 25 - the first open-air performance in the country by a British rock band, which was attended by an estimated 500,000 people.

61 containers, some of which were delivered by sea, carried around 500 tonnes of additional equipment required to produce the show.

Atlas Air has a long history of flying music equipment around the world, but because of the unusual destination, the airline explained that there were special visa, permitting and operational challenges to overcome.
