WCA quartet prove expertise

March 4 - WCA Projects network member, Altius, has completed the transportation of the final three 151-tonne transformers from Ilo port to the Nodo Energetico del Sur project site in Peru.

The three transformers were shipped on board BBC Amber from South Korea to Peru, where the units were unloaded onto modular trailers and transported overland to the job site.

Meanwhile, fellow WCA Projects member KGE Logistics handled the shipment of three large offshore cranes from the UK and Austria to Aktau in Kazakhstan.

Two of the cranes were transported from Austria to Travemunde in Germany, where the components were loaded onto Mafi trailers and shipped via ro-ro ship to the Port of Liepaja in Latvia, from where they were delivered overland to Kazakhstan.

The third crane was transported from Sunderland to the UK Port of Hull, before being shipped to the Port of St Petersburg and delivered overland to the final destination.

In total the project required the use of 30 specialised truck and trailer combinations, as well as 22 standard trucks.

WCA Projects member in China, Universal Logistics, also completed a complex projects, which involved shipping a 5,000 cu m consignment - including a 330-tonne individual unit - from Port Klang, Malaysia to Nantong in China via Singapore.

The equipment was barged from Port Klang to Singapore, before being loaded onto a heavy lift ship for delivery to Nantong.

Over in the Americas, another WCA Projects member, Rodrimar International Projects (RI Projects), coordinated the delivery of 1,516 cu m of oversized machinery and equipment from Brazil to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
