October 14 - The Project Cargo Network (PCN) has confirmed its first appointment in Namibia with the addition of Transworld Cargo (Pty) Ltd.
Transworld has been operational in Namibia and the SADC region for over 25 years and has almost 100 employees. Headquartered in Windhoek, the company has branch offices and warehousing in Oshikango, the main Angola border post.
The company says that Namibia is a regional transportation hub and a western gateway for the SADC region with corridors linking the port of Walvis Bay with Angola, Zambia and D.R. Congo in the North, with Botswana and Zimbabwe in the East, as well as South Africa.
Namibia is the fourth largest exporter of non-fuel minerals in Africa and the world's fourth largest producer of Uranium. There has been significant investment in Uranium mining and Namibia is set to become the largest exporter of Uranium by 2015. There are offshore gas and oil deposits in the Atlantic Ocean that are planned to be explored and extracted in the future. All of which will be interesting news to anyone involved in the movement of heavy and OOG cargoes.
