Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest has placed an order for four ships that will be deployed in its Eco-Shortsea fleet.

Construction of the newbuilds will begin in February 2020 and delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2021.

The ships will measure approximately 90 m in length and have a cargo volume of more than 5,500 cu m. The design includes a clear view of the deck, while the hull shape will contribute to a reduction in fuel consumption.

In addition, Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest said the load compartment would be able to accommodate bulk, breakbulk and project loads.

The ships will be equipped with a hybrid marine propulsion system and other environmentally friendly technologies that will not only meet the requirements of future IMO Tier III emissions standards, but also reduce CO2 and particulate matter emissions as well as fuel consumption.
