Russian forwarder sees wind power potential

August 10 - Russia could breathe new life into the country's project forwarding sector by investing in wind power technology, according to one local operator.

Speaking to HLPFI, Vadim Aleinikov, head of energy department for Moscow-based Safe Way Transportation, said: "Russia has always concentrated on oil and gas for its energy supplies, but there will come a time when that option runs out. There must be a plan for non-renewable energy."

According to Mr Aleinikov, Russia's northern Siberia region offers flat and uninhabited terrain which is ideal for wind farm installations.

Safe Way is pressing its government contacts to give greater consideration to wind energy and is planning to exhibit at a forthcoming renewable energies exhibition in Moscow in order to highlight its capabilities in the field, Aleinikov added.

The next issue of HLPFI contains a special report on the heavy lift/ project forwarding market in Russia. For more information, email: Luke@Heavyliftpfi.com
