Steady levels at St Petersburg

October 20 - The Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg (SP SPb) handled 6.2 million tonnes of cargo in the first nine months of 2015, which it says is similar to volumes handled in the same period of 2014.

The volume of general cargo handled at the Russian gateway increased by 8 percent to 5 million tonnes, which SP SPb attributed to increased handling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, with volumes of ferrous metals up by 19 percent year-on-year.

The port says it also handled a number of project, heavy lift and oversize cargoes in the first nine months of 2015, as well as cargo for the agricultural industry and wood pellets.
