September 14 - Turkish project cargo forwarder Project Cargo & Yacht Transport is claiming a record in the field of yacht transport as it moved three super-yachts and one coast guard boat to the Middle East.

The Instanbul-based company faced a delicate personnel issue during the move as it occured in the annual holidays for the Muslim Eid festival when conductng business can be difficult in the region because of staff shortages.

The yachts were loaded in late August on a heavy lift, multi-purpose dry cargo vessel and went ahead despite challenging winds during loading. The boats covered more than half of the deck area of the ship. While yachts are commonly seen in Turkish waters loaded on heavy lift shipping, this traffic is inbound from the US and Europe. A vessel carrying four yachts travelling from Turkey to the Middle East is a rarity.

The yachts were loaded at different ports, the ports of Marmaris in the Aegean sea and Derince in Marmara sea.

The longest yacht measured 27.5m while the heaviest weighed 103 tonnes.
