Construction of Baku's new port began in November 2010 and is being carried out in three phases. By the end of the first phase, the transhipment volume of the port is expected to stand at 25 million tonnes annually.

The two subsidiaries of Antwerp Port Authority will support the Baku port management with training, as well as provide assistance with planning the new port and associated logistics zone.
