September 27 - Air Charter Service (ACS) has transported a 27-tonne oversized drilling machine from Perth, Australia to a mining project in India, onboard one of Volga-Dnepr's Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VDs.

Destined for Ahmedabad, the mining equipment measured over 15 m in length and was more than 3 m high.

Volga-Dnepr's cargo planning centre created a loading plan to ensure the safe positioning of the machinery into the IL-76's cargo cabin, taking into account the minimal clearance between the height of the shipment and the aircraft's rear loading door.

The drilling machine was pulled into the aircraft using the IL-76's onboard winches.

According to Shahvez Jafary, commercial director at ACS India, utilising Volga-Dnepr's IL-76, rather than an AN-124, proved to be the most cost-efficient solution for the customer.
