November 13 - EMS Chartering GmbH & Co has delivered nine lifeboats for the new 146,600-tonne cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway, which was floated out of Meyer-Werft's covered building dock in Papenburg, Germany earlier this week.

The lifeboats, each of which weighed 12 tonnes and were 12.7 m long and 5.45 m wide, were delivered from the manufacturer, Hatecke, located in Drochtersen on the river Elbe.

Six of the boats were delivered to Papenburg for clearance, while the remaining three were transported to Eemshaven, where the rest of the cruise ship equipment will be brought on board.

Construction of the Norwegian Getaway began last November and the ship is scheduled to begin her journey down the river Ems and into the North Sea later this month.
