In cooperation with DFDS, Finnlines has extended its Spain-Sweden service to Scotland, with the addition of roundtrip sailings between Bilbao and Rosyth.

The service, which also calls at the English ports of Hull, Teesport and Tilbury as well as Gothenburg in Sweden, is operated by ro-ro vessels that can handle a variety of cargoes, including trailers, containers and breakbulk cargoes.

According to Finnlines, the deck heights and ramp strengths are suitable for a variety of oversized and overweight cargoes.

Finnlines added that cargoes could be transhipped at Bilbao in order to maximise the effectiveness of its Zeebrugge-Bilbao corridor service.

"The synergies between the different services will make it possible to connect any port in the loop within a maximum transit time of five days which is far faster than any existing connection is this by road, rail or even sea," said Finnlines.
