In response to increasing demand for project cargo services, G2 Ocean is opening an office in Hamburg, Germany.

Leif Arn Strømmen, vice president innovation and project cargo at G2 Ocean, said: “Germany is the manufacturing and engineering capital of Europe and by establishing a base here, we are able to further enhance our business and service offerings in the region.”

The Bergen, Norway-headquartered company appointed Mykola Kazadayev as its project cargo manager to lead the office, which will open on December 1, 2019.

He will be responsible for delivering project cargo services to both new and existing customers operating in a variety of industrial sectors, including as oil and gas and wind energy.

Kazadayev joins the company with a wealth of experience in the shipping industry. He previously worked as a competitive broker and chartering manager for Döhle Group, and as a chartering broker at BBC Chartering. He also has seven years of sailing experience onboard multipurpose and heavy lift ships.

G2 Ocean – a joint venture between Gearbulk and Grieg Star – began operations in May 2017 and, according to the company, the opening of the Hamburg office marks the start of a new phase for the venture, with an increased focus on the offshore wind energy and oil and gas segments.

“G2 Ocean currently has a strong position in the onshore wind market, which gives a robust basis for project business. Strengthening our position in new industry segments will be an important task for the new office,” added Strømmen.
