July 12 - GE Renewable Energy's offshore wind turbine plant in Saint-Nazaire, France is completing the production of its first five Haliade offshore wind turbine nacelles, which will be shipped to the USA for installation at the Block Island offshore wind

The five 370-tonne nacelles will be delivered to the Block Island farm, which is located near Providence, Rhode Island and is the first of its kind in the USA.

Installation of the Haliade turbines will begin in August and the farm is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2017. It will have a total capacity of 30 MW and will be capable of producing 125,000 MWh of electricity per year.

GE's site at Saint-Nazaire, which was inaugurated in December 2014, was designed to produce up to 100 turbines per year. It will also be the assembly site for 66 wind turbines destined for the Merkur wind farm in Germany, as well as 238 turbines intended for three French farms in Saint-Nazaire, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Fécamp.
