May 25 - Germany's Seaports of Niedersachsen has launched a new website to demonstrate the capabilities of the various ports within the group in regards to offshore logistics.

www.seaports-offshore.de offers a clear view of Niedersachsen's seaports and their expertise in delivering logistics services for offshore wind energy and is targeted at manufacturers of wind turbines and project managers of offshore wind farms. Service providers, producers, suppliers and other companies in the ports, which are concerned with the issue of wind energy, can be found on the new website.

Seaports of Niedersachsen says that the offshore wind energy industry offers great opportunities for seaports in the federal state of Niedersachsen to generate long-term skilled jobs. "The seaports of Niedersachsen which are active in the field of wind energy in the offshore sector are keen to obtain a much higher profile, to show the manufacturers of wind turbines where appropriate production, assembly, handling and service facilities are located," said Andreas Bullwinkel, managing director of the Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH. "At the political level, particularly in the federal government, better awareness of the existing structures for offshore logistics in Niedersachsen is also required."

The Association of German Seaport Operators (ZDS) will develop a similar representation for all offshore ports in Germany.

www.seaports-offshore.de delivers information about cargo handling, availability of storage and staging areas, support services in the area of logistics for the on-and offshore wind energy industry, as well as important contact information.

HLPFI's July / August edition will include a feature on the logistics involved in renewable energy generation. To get involved in the editorial content or to advertise your company's services for this sector contact ian@heavylliftpfi.com
