January 3 - At the Greek Port of Thessaloniki, increased operational costs and service disruptions generated by ongoing traffic congestion are forcing CMA CGM to implement an Emergency Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS).

The PCS will apply for any imports and exports through the port from January 8, 2018, except on US trade, where the date will be February 1, 2018.

The surcharge is USD80 per teu and USD160 per feu and will be applied to all cargo including dry, reefer, out of gauge (OOG) and breakbulk. The surcharge must be prepaid in addition to the regular negotiated ocean freight rate, CMA CGM said in an official statement.
