September 16 - Indonesia's GTA Construction has ordered a second LR 11350 crawler crane to its fleet.

The 1,350-tonne capacity Liebherr crane has been ordered with the PowerBoom attachment - which the manufacturer says allows the crawler to achieve the lifting capacities of a crane in the 1,800-tonne capacity class.

"Our current LR 11350 performs excellently and we are very satisfied with it. Since we estimate increasing demand for hoisting work over 1,000 tonnes, the decision to buy a second crane of this type was a natural one," said GTA president Kaoru Hirota.

GTA will put the crane to use on a number of major projects in Indonesia, including petrochemical projects, oil refineries and gas processing plants, as well as fertiliser facilities and raw material smelters.

"With its minimal derrick radius of 15 m, the LR 11350 is a great solution for constricted sites," added Hirota. "The fact that the Liebherr crawler crane can also be operated in a main boom only configuration, in other words without the additional derrick boom, is of utmost importance to us compared to other cranes in this class."

The large crane is scheduled for delivery to GTA in December 2016.
