March 13 - Turbine parts, destined for the Gunfleet Sands wind farm, have been delivered to Harwich International Port in the UK whilst they await collection by the installation ship Titan 2.

Chris Lewis, Hutchison Ports CEO, which owns Harwich International Port, commented: "As a company committed to monitoring and improving environmental issues we are pleased to be involved in the logistics chain for the construction of the Gunfleet Sands wind farm."

Barges containing parts for six complete turbines are set to be regular callers over the next few months, whilst the wind farm is erected. All of the parts for one complete turbine will be moved by the Titan 2 on each of its visits, to be installed at Gunfleet Sands. This process will be repeated until 48 turbines, some eight barges full, have been installed.

The developer for the Gunfleet Sands site is Dong Energy, which will be deploying 48 Siemens 3.6 MW turbines, totalling some 172.0 MW of power.
