October 22 - Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has acted as port and discharging agents for Cosco Shipping's vessel Da De, which arrived at the Kenyan port of Mombasa with seven rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes.

The huge cranes were commissioned by Kenya Ports Authority and represent the first stage of the port of Mombasa's upgrade and expansion plans.

Cosco Shipping has confirmed that a further five RTGs will be delivered on its vessel Da Qing Xia in early November.

"Inchcape Shipping Services is playing an ever increasing role in the port infrastructure developments happening on the east coast of Africa, having recently handled a number of similar heavy lift operations," said ISS Kenya general manager Kevin Chaney.

HLPFI reported on September 25 that ISS had acted as port and discharging agent for ZPMC's Zhen Hua 21 at the Tanzanian port of Dar es Salaam.
