July 1 - Mumbai based MFC Transport, a member of the WCA Projects network, recently handled the complex shipment of a Calandria - a reactor core of a Candu nuclear power plant - for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).

MFC Transport's project team had to create a unique fixture to allow the 53 tonne, 8.6 m x 5.6 m Calandria to rotate by 90 degrees along its axis. According to MFC, this fixture enabled it to reduce the transit time over the 700 km journey from nine months to nine weeks. The reactor core is of national importance to India's strategic energy programme and MFC safely delivered the consignment to its destination.
