August 14 - UK headquartered Modulift has designed and built its first-ever modular spreader frame, the CMOD.

The development of the CMOD has been in response to customer demand and a gap in the market for an adaptable spreader frame, says Modulift.

The CMOD is easy for the user to set-up and manoeuver and reconfigure, allowing for multiple uses.

The CMOD is made up from Modulift struts from its spreader bream range, and adds newly designed CMOD corner units.

During the development of the CMOD modular spreader frame, a focus group was asked to review the CMOD against a standard fixed frame. One of the points recognised was that existing Modulift spreader beams could be adapted into a CMOD frame using the corresponding CMOD corner units and additional struts.

The new CMOD spreader frame is also easy to transport. The largest frame, stretching 12 m x 12 m, can be broken down into modular parts, saving the cost of specialised transportation and logistics.

The frame is capable of lifting up to 70 tonnes and 110 tonne capacity frames are already in development. The frames can be configured from 0.5 sq m up to 12 sq m.

The system has been designed to BS EN 13155 non-fixed lifting load attachments standards, and conforms to GL Denton guidelines concerning shackles.

The Modulift CMOD frame will be launched in September 2013.
