May 2 - National Air Cargo has announced that together with all related authorities, it is actively investigating the cause of this week's crash of Flight NCR102 at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

The carrier has released a number of details relating to the flight and its movements, prior to the accident.

According to National Air Cargo, flight NCR102 was en route to Dubai from Camp Bastian, Afghanistan and stopped to refuel at Bagram Air Base. The aircraft's cargo consisted of vehicles and general cargo - no passengers were onboard. The cargo within the aircraft was properly loaded, secured and had passed all necessary inspections prior to departing Camp Bastian.
 
The B747-400 landed safely and without incident at Bagram. No additional cargo or personnel joined the flight during the refueling stop, and the aircraft's cargo was again inspected prior to departure.
 
A statement from National Airlines president Glen Joerger read: "Safety is always our top priority at National Airlines. This is a devastating loss for our family and we'll work diligently with authorities to find the cause.
 
"Most importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with our crewmembers and their families."
