March 10 - It's been a busy start to the year for project cargoes through the Ras Al Kaimah Ports Group's various facilities.

Five distillation tower components, weighing a total of 255 tonnes, were unloaded onto Air Liquide's private quay at RAK Maritime Free Zone in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

The cargo was discharged from the Combi-Lift vessel Pangani, and delivered into the new Air Liquide manufacturing facility.

The distillation tower, which was designed and built by Air Liquide Engineering, is destined for use at an oxygen and nitrogen production unit in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City.

 

 

 

Elsewhere in Ras Al Khaimah, Korean conglomerate Hyundai Engineering and Construction (HDEC) began shipping concrete wall sections from RAK's Al Jazeera Port to an island in the Satah al-Razboot (SARB) offshore oilfield.

The concrete sections, which were cast at RAK Precast's facility in Al Hamra, are delivered to the port by road, and will be stored and sorted at Al Jazeera Port, ready for shipment to the man-made island oil installation site over a period of 18-24 months.

The SARB project involves the reclamation and construction of two artificial islands, to facilitate drilling works for the extraction of crude oil from the field.

RAK Ports (Ras Al Khaimah Ports Group) comprises of five ports in the emirate, including Saqr Port; RAK Maritime City; Al Jazeera Port; Al Jeer Port; and RAK Khor Port.
