Canaveral gains project funding

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has allocated USD14.76 million of funding towards Port Canaveral’s improvement projects.

 

The grant will be used for a sand bypass project that will transfer sand from the shoreline north of the harbour entrance to areas of shoreline further south.

According to Port Canaveral, the project was deemed critically important for port navigation and will ensure ocean vessels can continue to travel through the harbour.

USACE’s 2018 investment plan also earmarked USD1.47 million for maintenance of the port’s harbour, as well as the Canaveral Locks.
