Chipolbrok continues its westbound success

Chipolbrok’s multipurpose ship Qian Kun called at five different European ports on its westbound service, including Bremen where crane components weighing up to 32.8 tonnes were loaded.

With a lifting capacity of up to 640 tonnes, Qian Kun’s cranes made light work of the units. More challenging was the length of the crane jib, which measured 68.4 m. This unit had to be stowed on deck over two hatches, said Chipolbrok. The components are now en route to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The shipping line added that, in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic and containment measures that are in place, the port of Bremen was able to supply sufficient equipment and longshoremen that were able to execute the work safely and swiftly, ensuring a quick dispatch for Qian Kun.

The carrier added: “Our warmest thanks go to all personnel involved in making this call a success even under these very special circumstances.”

Prior to its port call in Bremen, the multipurpose vessel called at the ports of Cuxhaven, Rouen, Antwerp and Hamburg, as HLPFI reported here.

In Hamburg, the vessel berthed at C. Steinweg’s multipurpose Süd-West-Terminal as well as Wallmann & Co’s terminal at Reiherstieg to load heavy and oversized components.

According to the port, the arrival of a second Chipolbrok vessel came just a few days later when Chipolbrok Pacific berthed in Hamburg to load large quantities of steel, general and heavy cargo for destinations in Asia.
