New crane to lift Venice port’s prospects

The Italian port of Venice says it will shortly put a new Konecranes Gottwald Model 6 mobile harbour crane into operation at its Multi Service Terminal.

Assembly of the crane sections, following their arrival from Dusseldorf, Germany is now complete.

With a capacity of up to 125 tonnes and a double winch configuration, it joins a fleet of seven existing port cranes from with lift capacities ranging from 80 to 200 tonnes, and is expected to enhance Multi Service Terminal’s appeal for companies moving breakbulk and in particular project cargo, said Multi Service chief executive, Paolo Dello Iacono. He added: “We are convinced of the potential of the port and we are confident of increasing our traffic in the future.”
