January 15 - Southampton, UK-based PSP Worldwide Logistics is to be the official logistics partner for the Global Ocean Race 2014-2015.

PSP will be responsible for ensuring race equipment, spare parts and food reach the four stopover points during the nine-month ocean race.

The 49,900 km race will start from the PSP Boat Show, Southampton in September 2014 and will finish at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, during June 2015.

Josh Hall, race organiser, commented: "The stopovers for this race will be short so we need a logistics partner that we can rely on for speed, accuracy and efficiency. That's why we chose PSP, which has a proven track record in delivering impeccable logistics for race teams across the globe."

PSP has a strong track record in the race logistics market, with it twice being named as the official logistics partner for the Clipper Round the World Yacht race, in addition to providing support and consultancy services to the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and the America's Cup.

Frank Dixie, managing director of PSP, added: "For these competitors, our ability to get a piece of equipment to them anywhere in the world, at the drop of a hat, could be the difference between them winning or losing."

Dix also stated that PSP Worldwide's marine division has seen a 10 percent increase in turnover, attributable to the fact that it is moving more boats per loading and is also moving bigger and heavier loads.
