November 26 - Alstom has installed a new-generation offshore wind turbine, the 6 MW Haliade 150, off Ostend harbour at the Belwind site in Belgium.

The first Haliade 150 was commissioned in March, 2012 at Le Carnet site in France and in May, 2013 obtained the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) power performance measurement.

With a 150 m long rotor, blades stretching 73.5 m, this is the largest offshore wind turbine ever installed in sea waters, says Alstom.

The 61 m jacket was set on top of pillars, which had been sunk to a depth of over 60 m, before the three elements of the 78 m tower were assembled on the jacket. The overall weight of the turbine and its structure totalled 1,500 tonnes.
