May 20 - Rhenus Logistics and the Port of Rotterdam Authority will today sign a contract for the construction of a new quay at the Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal on Antarcticaweg on the Maasvlakte.

The 280 m long quay will be built on the eastern side of the terminal, which is already equipped with a 500 m long quay on the southern side. The terminal covers 20 ha, with 70,000 sq m of covered storage space and a rail connection.

Rhenus decided on a new quay to cope with the demand for terminal capacity for breakbulk and onshore/offshore related businesses. The new quay will also increase the capability of Rotterdam's breakbulk sector, said the port.

Currently three mobile cranes, with lifting capacities up to 100 tonnes, are available for loading and unloading. After the completion of the new quay, a fourth crane will become operational.
