The port of Nantes - Saint Nazaire in France is looking to develop an eco-technology park at its Le Carnet facility, located on the south bank of the Loire Estuary.

The port is inviting proposals from potential investors looking to develop a sustainable project at the site. According to Saint Nazaire, the port area covers 395 ha of land, 110 ha of which will be used for the eco-technology park.

The Le Carnet port facility and industrial zone is designed as a base location for companies involved in inland waterway transport, said Saint Nazaire. To support the development of the eco-technology park, proposals should also focus on the use environmentally friendly technologies.

The port added that the 110 ha site has the ability to provide a broad range of solutions for the handling of ro-ro and lo-lo cargo, including extra large consignments.

Proposals should be submitted by November 29. The site development operations could be set in motion as early as 2020, said the port.
